HOW TO MAKE CHILD SIZE MASKS - SIMPLE DESIGN WITH COMFORTABLE, ADJUSTABLE EAR STRAPS

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE PATTERN-
Be sure to print it at 100%, and not ‘fit to page’.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Wash and dry your fabrics to pre-shrink. Cut two exterior and two liner pieces from the pattern. Make sure you have left and right sides by folding your fabric in half and cutting two at a time.
  2. Use 1/4 inch seam allowances throughout. Place two exterior pieces right sides together (RST) and sew the center seam. Repeat with liner pieces.
  3. Open these up and place exterior and liner RST. Pin and sew top and bottom edges.
  4. Turn the mask right side out and top stitch top and bottom edges.
  5. Find a knit that curls well at the edges. Make sure you cut the knit so it curls back toward the wrong side so you can see the pretty pattern. If you cut your strips parallel to the selvedge this will happen, perpendicular to the selvedge will result in the knit curling right side in and you won’t see the pretty pattern. Cut two strips of knit 1 inch by 12 inches, do not tug on these strips to curl them quite yet.
  6. Fold a knit strip in half over one open side of the mask. Stitch to secure, then tug on the knit ends so the strip will curl up nicely. Tie the two loose ends of the knit strap to create an ear loop. Repeat with other strip of knit on the other side of the mask.
