DULUTH: Sewing For Beginners - Sew Your First Pillowcase

Looking for the perfect first sewing project? This cozy and creative workshop is for you! In this class, you’ll learn how to sew a pillowcase using the burrito method and French seams. The burrito method is a special technique that we'll use to construct the pillowcases. It's an ingenious method (some would even say that it's magic!) and in utilizing it, we'll be able to create tremendously easy - yet still professional-grade - projects. Add some French seams and your final piece will be as beautiful on the inside as it'll be on the outside!

This class is perfect for all experience levels. If you've never sewn before, we'll give you a quick tutorial before the lesson starts and then you can start sewing. If you're someone that's made all the projects in the world, please come, too! You'll definitely enjoy the relaxed nature of this project; plus, you can always use a new pillowcase!

What You’ll Learn:

• How to cut and prep fabric for a pillowcase

• The burrito method for hidden seams

• How to sew and finish with French seams (no exposed edges!)

• Tips for mixing prints and creating clean, professional results

Materials Required:

• ¾ yard for the main body

• ¼ yard for the cuff

• 1/8 yard for the accent (optional but adds a fun touch!)

• Thread and basic sewing notions
