Homeschool Tuesdays Spring 2025 | Ms. Mary's Super Stitchers: More Than Just Quilts!

Calling all creative kids!

Our homeschool quilting series has returned-- this time with pockets! This spring, our quilt-focused homeschool series will have participants stretching their sewing skills and taking quilts completely out of the box-- and the house! Participants in the Spring Semester quilt group will complete a one of a kind quilted duffel bag, complete with self-drafted patchwork pockets! 

Our Super Stitchers curriculum is perfect for sewists ages 7 and older who know how to use a sewing machine independently: threading the machine, raising and lowering the presser foot, operating basic machine safety and awareness. (If your beginner sewist is interested in joining this class but is not able to thread and operate a sewing machine independently, please give us a call; we would love to schedule a private lesson for your child so they can join this group and still have fun!)

Students participating in this class will build on their existing sewing skills to learn new piecing methods, color and composition techniques, and practical sewing skills like zippers and binding!

As always, this class is designed to teach new skills while being fun and entertaining. Some of the skills we will be covering can be seen in the brief overview of the class below:

Jan 21: Fabric Selection and Planning
-Intro to piecing/applying piecing techniques to achieve patterns, fabric selection/contrast

Feb 4: Begin Piecing
-Precut education, cutting technique, layout custom pieced panels

Feb 18: End Panels and Pockets
-Piece, baste, and quilt small panels

March 4: Main Bag Body
-Piece, pin baste, quilt full body of bag

March 18: Zipper Install
-Install binding, attach double sided zipper

April 1: Final Assembly
-Complete assembly and interior binding
