Dressmaking Class: Little Girl's Easter Dress
In this advanced beginner-friendly class, we’ll make the darling Sorrento dress by Little Lizard King. It’s a darling choice for this year’s Easter or any upcoming spring/summer festivities!
The dress features a V-neck in the back and front, spaghetti straps, an elastic waist, and a full circle skirt. This style is cool and breezy for the hot summer months, and the smaller straps make it a comfortable choice for wearing underneath a cardigan during the cool spring or early fall. The dress has no snaps or buttons, so it’s an ideal project for anyone who’s looking to start making clothing.
The Sorrento dress is available in kids’ sizes from 12 months to a girl’s 14. This pattern is not recommended for older girls who are fully developed.
You’ll learn the following concepts in this session:
•Learn how to read and follow a sewing pattern
•Blending sizes for a more custom fit
•Making an elastic casing waist
•Using a serger to finish seams
•Hemming a circle skirt with bias tape
Class Materials
The pattern is included in the price of the class. Additionally, you will need to buy the following materials for this project. These supplies can be purchased at our store for 20% off:
• 1/2 yard of a solid woven fabric, such as quilting cotton, to line the bodice.
• Woven fabric, such as quilting cotton, for the exterior of the dress:***
- 12 months to Size 4: 1.5 yards
- Sizes 5-6: 2.5 yards
- Sizes 7-8: 3 yards
- 10-14: 3.75
**IMPORTANT: Make sure you choose your fabrics before the class starts so that you can pre-wash them. Feel free to buy extra fabric to account for any shrinkage during washing.
***Please choose the size based on the size chart provided below!
- 1/2” SINGLE FOLD Bias tape:
- Sizes 12 months to size 7: One package
- Sizes 8 to 14: Two packages
- 1/2” elastic - One Package or 26”
