You finally pieced your quilt top and now it's time to turn it into an actual quilt. You've done straight line quilting before, but you want to mix it up. And while, yes, you could use a longarm machine, there's something much more satisfying about finishing it on your domestic machine. You know where this is going, right? That's right: free-motion quilting. We know that every single time you've tried it, your project ends up looking like a hot mess (or at least, that's what you think.) Those days are long gone because our "Free-Motion Quilting For Beginners" class is here to solve all of your FMQ issues!
This class will set you up for FMQ success: Learn how to set up your machine for free-motion quilting, explore the different FMQ feet and their different functions, discover the ABCs of FMQ, and practice quilting basic FMQ designs (Baptist fans, swirls, and pebbles). You'll leave the class with a fat quarter-sized mini quilt filled with your beautiful FMQ work. (YES, you can totally do it!) As to what you can do with this quilted square? So many things! Transform it into a cool wall hanging or place mat. You could take two more fat quarters and make an eye-catching tote bag (bonus points if you do a reverse appliqué technique). Our pick? A simple boxy pouch. We're sure that whatever you decide to do will look wonderful! However, the most important thing about this class is that you'll gain the knowledge you need to successfully free-motion quilt all of your projects on your domestic machine.
Experience Level
Students must have sewing experience and be comfortable with using a machine, although previous FMQ experience is not required.
