Basic Clothing Alterations Class

Raise your hand if you’ve been here:
~ Ugh, these pants are sooo cute, but they’re too long!
~ Oh no! The button fell off of my favorite shirt!
~Why is my dress coming apart?
~ This skirt needs to be a little shorter, if only I had the skills to hem it.
Yup, we’re raising our hands, too.
Being able to make your own alterations to your clothes is an invaluable life skill. In this class you will learn basic clothing alteration techniques so that you can fix any of your clothes at the drop of a hat! The class will cover hemming techniques, attaching buttons, the original edge jean hem, patching, and repairing seams.
Experience: This class is beginner-friendly. Some previous sewing experience is preferred, but not required. We will have a short review of our machines and will be learning on them as well as using hand needles.
Materials: Please bring one clothing item that needs a simple hem, button, or seam alteration. We will have scrap fabric and examples to practice techniques if you do not currently have an item that needs help. No formal wear or extremely damaged items, please.
