- Position Overview -

- Key Responsibilities -

• Greet and engage walk-in customers with warmth and enthusiasm. 
• Conduct hands-on demonstrations of sewing and embroidery machines—threading, stitch selection, tension adjustment, using accessories—to illustrate value and ease of use. 
• Assess customer projects and recommend machines (mechanical, computerized, embroidery), fabric, and notions accordingly. 
• Educate customers on warranties, trade-in options, financing, and new machine owner support policies. 
• Cut fabric to order, handle bolts and notions as part of fabric sales. 
• Maintain product knowledge across sewing machine brands and models, and embroidery software.
• Operate point-of-sale systems (POS), process transactions, and manage inventory records efficiently with strong computer literacy. 
• Assist with setting up displays, promotional setups, demo layouts, for general appeal and functionality. 
• Provide after-sales assistance - basic troubleshooting and service coordination. 
• Support or lead customer classes or demos (e.g. new-owner classes, embroidery workshops) to educate and inspire—and drive class-based sales. (Classroom lead positions are optional for sales staff)
• Keep the sales floor tidy, organized, and safe; manage restocking of fabric bolts, accessories, and demo machines. 

- Qualifications & Skills -

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven retail and/or customer-service experience; prior sales experience strongly preferred. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication; adept at explaining technical features to customers clearly. 
• Advanced computer skills—POS systems, inventory tracking, sales reporting, email, and digital demos. 
• Energetic, outgoing manner with a strong customer service ethos and team player attitude. 
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a busy retail environment. 
• Comfortable lifting up to ~35–50-lbs (machines, fabric bolts), standing for extended periods, and carrying demo units. 
• Sewing, quilting, or embroidery experience is a strong asset.
