- Position Overview -

The Sewing Instructor will teach small group sewing classes and private lessons in our new studio space, offering instruction in fields that could include any of the following: machine sewing, machine embroidery, garment construction, quilting, pattern use, and more. Our team of engaging instructors cultivate a loyal community of makers while promoting Sew Sew Studio’s products and values.

- Key Responsibilities -

• Plan and teach engaging sewing classes for beginners through advanced sewists, both youth and adult.

• Instruct students in various sewing techniques that may include machine operation, pattern reading, garment construction, quilting, and fabric selection.

• Assist in the development of new class ideas that align with seasonal trends and customer interest.

• Provide excellent customer service and support before, during, and after classes.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming studio/classroom space.

• Collaborate with the store team to highlight products used in class and encourage retail sales.

• Monitor student progress, offer individualized instruction, and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

• Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of store-owned sewing machines and tools.

• Stay current on sewing trends, tools, and techniques to bring fresh ideas into the studio.

- Qualifications -

• Proficient in machine sewing, with a strong foundation in any of the following skill sets:

  • Machine Embroidery, Quilting, Garment Construction, Bag-Making, or other Sewing Application

• Experience teaching sewing or leading craft workshops is strongly preferred.

• Friendly, approachable, and confident in leading a group.

• Comfortable with different sewing machine brands and models.

• Able to multitask in a lively classroom environment.

• Creative, dependable, and enthusiastic about building community through sewing.

• Must be available to teach evening or weekend classes on occasion.

- Bonus Skills (nice to have) -

• Experience teaching children or teens.

• Content creation skills (social media, reels, tutorials, etc.).

• Retail experience or familiarity with selling sewing notions and supplies.
